Grown-up foods I wish I liked‏

I feel I would be more of an Acceptable Adult if I liked the following foods:

Asparagus
Strawberries
Lobster
Ribs
Anything involving barbeque sauce
Broccoli
Sashimi
Shrimp

I cannot stand and never eat any of the above foods.

Goodbye to the Countess of Sandwich

Jill can whip up an attractive and delicious sandwich even when she's not in her own kitchen!

Speaking of good cooks, everyone who ate this batch of baked beans says they are the best my mom has ever made. Her secret is the recent discovery of Wright bacon. I'm not a baked bean fan, or even a bacon fan (though I love BLTs), but this bacon is so tasty that I actually ate an entire piece of it by itself. Savory goodness to the last bite.

Anyway, Jilly is taking the baby back to Santa Monica soon. We'll miss you two. Get along, little dishy!

Accomplishments!

Today was a super-productive day. I got my teeth cleaned (the dentist says I'll be the only 100 year old in the nursing home still able to eat real food with all my real teeth), had lunch with my dad, got coffee with a friend, then went to town on these chairs.

And later I'm going to see a five dollar movie at the Hi-Pointe!

I can't be stopped!

My goal for tomorrow is to edit a bunch of pictures I took in Santa Monica and put them on my Flickr.

Listen to this amazing ticket deal we had for today's Cardinals game: the ticket was only $20, plus that ridiculously reasonably-priced ticket was worth $10 in concessions. That means I paid a mere $0.25 out of pocket for a hot dog and a souvenir cup filled with icy cold Coke. Isn't that incredible? And the seats were in the shade the whole time, and we won the game! What a fantastic day.

Last Night

One More Week Until the Great Vacation Gorge!

A week from today I'll be in Santa Monica! I need this vacation so badly. It will be nice to get away not just from work, but away from everyday life for a while. I'm going to vacation it up by eating whatever I want and doing whatever I want all day, every day, for 8 magnificent days in a row. Having eaten like a bird for the past few weeks in preparation for the Vacation Gorge, I'm most looking forward to the eating! I'm finally at my driver's license weight for the first time since before I quit smoking, but that won't last for long!

Places I will eat (not necessarily all on the same day) include but are not limited to:
Krispy Kreme,
Thoma's for chili cheese fries,
In-N-Out followed by an ice cream sandwich at Diddy Riese,
possibly a good old-fashioned post-church lunch at Souplantation,
maybe a sandwich from Bay Cities if I can brave the line,
and definitely a few delicious Jill-made sandwiches from her magical Panini-maker.

I was going to say Patty's Pizza but my friend the Internet tells me that the Santa Monica location closed in February. That's a shame, just a real shame.

Speaking of food, I don't know why a quote from Night Court, which has been off the air for almost 20 years, should pop into my head so often, but it does.

Come on - 3 for $5. How could I pass that up?

After I loaded all of these into my freezer last night, I thought "the only freezer contents crazier than this would be a couple of human heads."
